Recently, I've been playing a game called Dwarf Fortress. This game is of the 'rougelike' genre. If you don't know what that is, follow this link.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roguelike
Rougelikes have minimal graphics, and take a while to get used to, but I've learned to treat them as if I'm reading a book rather than watching a movie. (I believe I quoted that form somewhere, probably wikipedia)
Anyway, this roguelike happens to have an extremely complicated combat system. You can get various body parts cut off, and have various different types of wounds, like bruising vs. cutting etc. And of course, everything that applies to you applies to your enemies. Every enemy has a bodily structure, and you can even do stuff like gouge their eyes out. That isn't to say it's very easy.
I don't bother with the game's dwarf fortress mode, but instead play the adventure mode because it is far less complicated. So, if you don't mind the ascii graphics too badly (I actually prefer them) then try this game. It's rough around the edges at first, becuase controls take some practice to remember, and it's rough around the edges later because you'll probably die a lot, but hey, some people love that. (I know I do.)
This is the link for the Dwarf Fortress download, if you want to try it out.

And remember, while playing, there are three (actually four) things you must remember.
#1 - Type "?" to get help.
#2 - To scroll through menu options, you must use the + and - keys.
#3 - Have fun!
(#4 - The definition of fun is DYING in Dwarf Fortress.)
I have had fun on several occasions.
One time I took on my first quest, which was to kill a night creature, and the beast took her whole family along. They first knocked me out, then proceeded to repeatedly stab me in the head with forks.
In another, I managed to succeed in a few quests, but then stayed out too late at night and was beaten to death by a large group of bogeymen. (Yes, they exist!!)
That pretty much sums up adventures in this merciless game.
So, have fun!
